15.1.2010
Plugin version 0.6.4.03 is available after long 'radio silence'!
Release content:
Main idea of this release is bring support for latest MP & VLC version, so called project wake-up release!
+ Some funtions has changed in MP 1.1.0, those are now fixed and supported
- So this means that earlier Media Portal versions are no longer supported!
+ Same applies for VLC 1.0.3 some streaming parameters changed, so this VLC version is now on supported.
+ Because of this (if you have earlier used piipTV plugin) go to advanced settings and select eatch profile and press 'Defaults' -button, then you will get latest parameter tunings in use!!
+improvements in RTSP server
+improvements in HTTP server
Next in ToDo list, support for Nokia N900

and then with phone browser you need to click again "provisioning file" -link from web ui settings tab. Then your N97 / N96 will show liveTV also.
+ In Video Center, options menu there is option "open link in browser" once selecting that you can check "simple/light WEB UI" and handle recordings & EPG.
+ Some smaller bug fixes.

0.6.2.12 Release is out!
Release content:
+ Support for Mediaportal version 1.0.1
+ New WEB UI alfa -version released!
+ Authentication for web UI added to advanced settings, you can now use diggest or basic authentication for web ui (http) (There is already option for RTSP authentication, but that is not yet implemented to RTSP server side).
+ One tunneling releated exception fixed
-In advanced settings I have option for "real clip thumpnails" but that feature is not yet implemented.
19.12.2008
0.6.1.12 XMAS -release is out! Key driver, new cool features top of new architectural change.
+ Quick Time HTTP –tunneling working, this helps stream to travel through firewalls, especially in corporate networks
+ VLC generated playlist for recorded clips and liveTV, link is in WEB UI PC-profile only! Long waited and wanted feature!
+ possibility stream own movies via VOD ST. using recording folder. With this feature you can create your own tv -channel to be broadcasted! Eg. for holiday videos etc. Most common file formats are streamed through. Video files copied to recording folder are renamed if there is eg. some Scandinavian characters, this is done because VLC does not like those characters. Converting to mp4 are done still only from .ts files.
+ Mainly related to previous bullet, now in advanced settings there is also option to start service without TV-card of course this means that no LiveTV but you are able to use your clips/movies, stream & download using xml feeds. Once using this option you need to remember specify folder where your clips are stored, since Mediaportal default folder cannot be used.
+ Added new profile in advanced settings for converting clips. Profile is named with ‘MP4’, using this profile you are able to modify settings how you want your recordings be converted for download. Bit rate, resolution, codec’s, etc can be adjusted.
+ Default PiipTV icons are created automatically, if there is not user created one’s available
+ BYE –packet is now sent after after clip streaming.
+ some smaller bug fixes.
+ Search for any recorded clips from phone Video Center! You need to click provisioning file again from WEB UI to get search activated to your phone. Some screen shots added to demonstrate this feature (N95 8GB screenshots in features)
First reports are telling that PiipTV is working withNokia 5800 touch phone :) Some screenshots from device UI added.
News update: We found this user created video from Youtube which demonstrates piipTV & Nokia 5800 touch phone usage, recommend that you check it also.
30.10.2008
0.6.0.10 Release is out!
Main purpose of this release is bring support for multiple users for one piipTV server!!
+ support for multiple RTSP connection; this means that if you have one TV-card, then several person can watch this selected channel and stream recorded clips. (Next release; If you have multiple TV-cards several users can watch different channels and stream recordings.) Limitation comes only from your internet connection speed and your server CPU (VLC encoding eats CPU) Because of this major design / architectural changes has been made in code –level, hope that this does not cause any other problems.
+ Mediaportal RC3 is now supported (plugin rebuild in RC3 environment, maybe some binary break between RC2 -> RC3) this reason RC2 and older MP versions are not supported anymore.
+ if xmltv is selected to be used as EPG source from plugin UI, and in XMLTV.xml there is any channel that match to piipTV.xml, streaming URL’s are over written in piipTV.xml ->fixed.
+ EPG grabbed from TV-card are not refressed, if there is no use for service in two days (no streamers or start/stop service) ->fixed
+ if EPG is not available (country supports only analog TV-card, and that country is not in XMLTV coverage area) add there “if modified tag” so that phone’s Video Center is not trying to update EPG all the time, also dummy program added to EPG from same reasons (can be seen in WEB UI).
+ icons moved to -> PiipIcons –folder and temp folder for plugin files created PiipTemp -folder, old files from plugin root is removed automatically.
+ editing channel names does not work; in the MP db there is a "channelname" and "displaychannelname" fields, in XMLTV use case “MTV” vs. “MTV finland” epg is not matching, and analog card case channel named are not fetched from network, those can be now renamed from MP TV-server channels setup. Displayname is updated now to WEB UI and LiveTv, PiipTv recordings category name, this diplay name is updated once new recordings is made. To old recordings category name this is not updated, if you have old recordings you need to copy those manually to new folder! And once changing channel displayname remember to also rename you icon files to correct.
+ http –server allows now multiple connections at same time
+ add to SDP parameter “i=channelname / programname” field, some players are using this info to display data in player UI ->fixed
+ pop-up files generation if service is started with 3g or wlan profile and then changed to PC profile from plug-in UI ->fixed
User guide is also updated to up to date, any comments or improvement ideas to user guide, please send me mail or write to MP forum piipTV thread :)

+ New version of Revolunet VLCcontrols updated to piipTV usage

+Option to start PiipTV -service automatically always when Mediaportal TV-server is running
+Bye packet not sent (from VLC) at the end of vod streaming (fixed)
+VLC IDLE time before first stream is 1h, should be 3min (fixed)
TIP: If you are using piipTV a lot with another PC (watching with VLC) we have observed that viewer VLC (0.8.6.f) might crash easily, reason seems to be used AAC -audio codec (bug in VLC AAC -codec). So from advanced settings you can change audio codec to mp3, that should help situation when using another PC. (but MP3 -audio +H264 AVC video might cause some turbulence in phone videocenter usage) For this reason you can also find PC button from advanced settings UI, there is also some default streaming settings for WLAN and 3G usage
